Its not ideal to go to the market again and again in order to buy fresh oysters. Instead, you can use a couple of methods which will help you to keep them sea fresh for a bit longer than usual. Once should ensure safe transportation of such meat from market to the home as there are so many reasons of it going bad quickly.

You could either use a container full of ice and store them on top of it but make sure the melted ice doesn't seep through the shells as it may hinder the quality and taste of oysters. Or you can use an open container to put them in and cover it completely with a dampened cloth so that they are able to breath for long.

Mostly people like to eat oysters in a raw form just from its own shell. This is the most convenient way of consuming and it doesn't require any sort of preparation at all. But there are some excellent recipes for cooking this extravagant seafood. It is used in many different stir fry recipes, stews, curries and grilled dishes.

For special occasions and parties you can buy the new ones from your fish monger or local market. Its better to ask them in advance so that they are able to sell you the new items freshly taken out from the sea. On the other hand if you have planned to prepare some kind of stew or other stir fry dish than its better to buy the economical ones because you just need plenty of oyster meat whether its in the shell or outside it.

Its important to stores them within a stable temperature if you want to keep them for longer. Once you have brought them home, you need to clean them or wash them and afterwards pat dry them with a cotton cloth in a careful manner. Lay them down in a tray or a container while wrapping a damp cloth all around them so that they remain alive. Do not freeze them instead store them in a warm part of the refrigerator.

Once you take them out of the refrigerator try to consume them as soon as you can. Don't let this seafood sit outside the cold temperature for a long period of time as they will go bad easily and will not taste the same at all. Also, never put the leftovers back inside the fridge its better to throw them away because it will become stale and if consumed can cause nasty results.

Although there are a number of food manufacturers who supply frozen forms of this seafood but you will never find the same raw and crunchy taste. Always buy the new ones from the market which guarantees their good flavor and sea freshness.

Its not difficult to keep fresh oysters for longer but you can't keep them for more than a week. Moreover, never allow them to sit in variable temperatures because it hinders the quality of the products to a great extent. Once kept in suitable environment they remain extremely healthy and good to eat.
