Drive through food options

By George Dodson

You're definitely familiar with drive through restaurants if you're into watching old films such as "Happy Days" and if you've been born on the early 60's. Back in those days, drive through restaurants were very popular. Waiters back then were usually girls and they were called "Car hops". They wore uniforms in almost all occasions. The use of roller skates for waiters were very popular and very efficient back then.

All you have to do is pull up your car in the drive through then a "car hop" would immediately come rolling in to take your order. She would bring the food to your car on a special tray that hook onto your window. Afterwards, you can then consume your ordered food, leave the trash on the tray and simply blow your car horn if you want the car hop to take away the tray. Beach boy movies were such a hit back in the days and drive-ins were the mostly used settings which gave some drive-ins popularity.

A few of the commonly served food in drive through restaurants are fries, hotdogs, burgers, softdrinks like coke and pepsi and many more. A few drive throughs were able to come up with innovations on their menu like the grilled cheese sandwich and the special orders for chicken.

With the constant improvement of technology comes also the improvements in the drive through business. Modern drive throughs no longer make use of "car hops" with their sleek uniforms and skates. A lot other drive through establishments however still serve food in the same way as back in the days. They have a simple setup, and prices are usually standard. This however does not guarantee success in the business since there are a lot of major companies to compete with. So what exactly is the best drive through food that most people crave about?

There are tons of great drive-ins however the one on the top of the list would be "Sonic". These drive-ins have a varied menu, easy parking, and in some cases you can drive through, pick what you want to eat, and pay at the window. There is no more need to bring a tray that can fit to your car window just to have your food delivered. Food is not brought to each customer through paper or plastic bags.

As for the question on which drive-in food is the best, it would be better if we base the answer on personal choice. If we look at the chronological order of drive in foods, hamburger seems to come out on the top. For most of these drive-ins, the burger is easy to fix, and easy to price competitively.

Some of the more famous drive-ins such as Dairy Queen, and A&W root beer, had specialties that there famous for. Most of the customers who go to these drive-ins, are therefore a specific food such as a specialized burger, or some special fries. Most of these drive-ins feature a special food that most consumers can identify with. A good example of these special foods in menus is the "Six dollar burger" from Carl Junior's drive-in restaurant.

Through the years, ice cream has also been made a specialty like Dairy Queens "specialized ice cream". Others, such as A&W root beer, favor root beer over most of the food that they served.

Obviously, the Burger King or the Big Mac can never be faced out when it comes to specialty food from drive-in restaurants. Again, it seems to be that the burger is really the food of choice for those choosing to use drive-ins.

Many people have been concerned about the ingredients in some of these foods, and such stores like McDonald's began serving healthier meals such as salads and fruits. Essential contrarily well.
