Thank Goodness For Chocolate Chip Scones

By Anthony Cook

When it comes to the scone, there are some people who like them and some people who don't, but the people who do enjoy them absolutely love them. Chocolate chip scones are just one of the many varieties that these amazing treats come in, and there are just as many varieties as there are occasions when they can be enjoyed. No matter what is going on, it is always a great day for a scone.

There is not a worldwide consensus on how this amazing dessert or snack time food should be pronounced. The two general schools of thought are that it should be pronounced so that it rhymes with "phone, " or else so that it rhymes with "gone." No matter how you say it, people everywhere love to eat these things, and it makes sense that different people in completely different parts of the world have their own way of saying it.

There is some disagreement as to how the word scone initially developed. In the early 1500s, there were a few different apparent influences, such as the Dutch schoonbrood, or spoon bread, and the Scottish bannock. Eventually, the best qualities of these baked foods were brought together to create the treat we know and love.

Originally, a scone started out large, round, and flat. It was then cut into triangles to be served. Nowadays, these pastries have a much thicker texture thanks to the invention of baking powder.

It is easy to find these delicious treats at your local grocery store or bakery. There is nothing better than picking up a scone or two, or even a dozen, and having them on hand for just the right time. It is a good idea to make sure they are nice and fresh, as freshness can make all the difference, and it is also a good idea to try a scone from a certain place before buying a whole dozen to make sure that they use a quality recipe.

There is no substitute for home cooking, and sometimes all it takes is a little experimentation. With all of the great recipes that are available for free online, a person can do as much trial and error as they have the time and resources for. No matter how hard it might seem, it will always be worth it when you and the people you love are enjoying the finished product.

One of the best ways to eat a scone is with a piping hot cup of tea. Coffee is another popular way to take your scone, and the sweetness of the pastry compliments the flavor of the coffee just perfectly. Other times, it is just nice to have one with milk for dessert when one is feeling indulgent.

There is no better way to get the best possible recipe for the perfect scone than by asking an older relative such as an aunt or grandmother. In many families, there are secret recipes that have been passed down the generation. These are, in many cases, much better tasting than the ones you would buy in the store.
