Healthy And Ethical Allnatural Pastured Pork

By Brian Collins

There are so many benefits to having livestock raised this way that go directly to the consumer. One of the top advantages of allnatural pastured pork is that the nutritional value of the meat that comes from these animals is undeniably increased. It is also known that this style of raising animals results in meat with less fat, something that many people are looking for.

Many people are paying attention to how the animals that are used for food are treated. Animal rights have never been more important to the general public because more and more is discovered about how these animals can actually suffer at the hands of humans, and more of the cases of the mistreatment of animals are being exposed. People choose meat that comes from grass-fed animals because it is ethical and ensures that no cruelty went into bringing this product to consumers.

When animals are allowed to roam free on a pasture, they will eat whatever comes naturally to them and they are able to get exercise, leading to a healthier animal than those that are confined. Cows that are raised like this are called grass-fed because grass is essentially all that they eat. Animals like pigs and chickens have a more diverse diet, so they are called all-natural or free-range.

It is hard not to feel guilty when one finally realizes how badly the animals at factory farms are treated. This can make it hard to be motivated to take any action at all because the efforts of one person seem insignificant. It is important not to feel guilty, since this isn't the fault of any one person.

One thing a person can do if they are unable to afford to buy this type of food regularly is simply to advocate the ethical treatment of livestock in any way that they can. As more people seriously discuss this issue, more will become aware of its seriousness and the real benefits of these ethical alternatives. This spreading of awareness and keeping it in the public consciousness can help drive down the prices and make these foods more available.

It is hard to even look at a factory farm without feeling bad for the animals. For many, CAFOs (concentrated animal feeding operations) are just a part of life and they are able to ignore the disgusting treatment of the animals there. Now, more people are starting to stand up and take notice, and are declaring this practice unethical.

It is horrifying just how many health risks CAFOs pose to the general public. Most people would think that the only people who are at risk would be the ones who are eating the meat that comes from these animals. However, many people don't think about all the manure and toxic wastewater that has been known to flood into surrounding streams and rivers, which is a big reason for E. Coli breakouts and the spread of other dangerous, deadly diseases.

Most people don't even want to think about what the animals are fed on factory farms. Anyone who understands how the food chain works can probably understand why it is a bad idea to feed the animals we eat things that are toxic and not natural for them to eat. Nevertheless, these farms feed animals things like plastic, the animals' own feces, and anything to fatten them up without considering the health risks down the road.
