Things You Need To Know About Halal MRE

By Martha Perry

Never before has the world been made more one and influenced by many other religions and faiths, and this is so true of the Islamic faith as well. It has introduced concepts such as the concepts of haram and halal, which basically means forbidden and allowed respectively. In fact halal is something that you will see written, even in halal MRE packs, the kind that some of your soldier buddies might be eating. If you are wondering what halal is then do read on.

Halal when applied to food means that it is any food or victuals that are prepared in a prescribed clerical fashion under the tenets of the Muslim faith. It is more than just slapping on a label and selling any food, for many familiar with this kind of food will know if it is the real deal or not. Halal food is required to show on its ingredient packets most of the time the source, preparation methods and overall processing procedure.

The food prepared in this way, will follow the Islamic tenet of not eating any pork at all. Thus it will not include any pork derivatives, or anything that will hint of blood or alcohol. MSG and animal based gelatins are also not included in this kind of food preparation. It will always have foods and vegetables, herbs and spices, dairy products, cereals and grains.

Maintstream Western food favorites, and even fast foods do enjoy the label and preparation methods as well to this day. This is due to most likely increasing demand, but also many shrewd businessmen see this also as a turning point in profit margins as it is becoming more profitable. However, this kind of food preparation may make the cost of selling it quite high also.

Other consumer items have been covered under this preparation method as well, which includes clothing and cosmetics. Commercial ventures such as tourism and hotels have been influenced by the movement as well, with hotels offering separate facilities for men and women and also not serving alcoholic drinks or items.

In term of military applications such as US Army Meal Ready to Eat packs, this method of food preparation is done as well. It is definitely more expensive to do but theoretically it is also argued that it will also result in a healthier and better meal as well for soldiering.

The MRE preparations done under these guidelines are healthier, many will argue. This is because in general they will not have MSG, asparteme, sucralose and other sugars, and trans fats. The consumption of these kinds of MRE in theory will make a soldier less susceptible to fatigue and less jumpier also on the battlefield.

Determining whether this product is for you or not really or not is sometimes not a question of taste but also of how much you are more willing to spend, The MRE prepared this way is around thirty percent much more expensive than the ordinary MRE you are used to but remember it is also much healthier as well.
